Holiday Nightlife

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Sunday night insanity occurred. First off, I somehow had 50+ people out the Sunday before Christmas after a blizzard, which is pretty good. Then the guys DJ Pauly D and Mike the Situation were at 1Oak having a blast. Mike the Situation kept taking bottles of champagne, pouring, popping and spraying it on everyone in the crowd…and on all over every girl I’d introduce him to. I really need to get on my reality TV show who’s who game because I never would have never noticed these guys were if it weren’t for the New Jersey girls that came out with me. A lot of people’s jackets were stolen, always a pity and proof of an out-of-control night. Some Knicks cheerleader dancers were out. It’s funny how the room at 1Oak on Sunday ALWAYS starts off dead and people think it’s going to be a bad night. Then it always ends up being the best Sunday party no matter what anyone says. The entire staff of Juliet came across to 1Oak. I love Juliet too and hope to work there soon, but for now, Sunday’s at Oak is popping.

1Oak is going to be open on Christmas Eve. Tenjune will be closed on Christmas day (sadly) and so I may do Juliet or head to party of a great up and coming model here in NYC named Luke Magill (the cream of the crop). Will keep you guys posted. Another big male model that I know is Ty Kinty but he is mainly based in London. Jay Z’s bouncer/body guard was actually at 1Oak my friend @clarencelmcmill said. You can follow him on Twitter for some good entertainment updates, as well as other NYC blogger/entertainers like Micah Jesse and Jared Eng. Good people to know in the business and they are all on twitter. And follow me as well for all the most up to date information at twitter.com/tnkg

This coming Tuesday (tomorrow) Talib Kweli is booked for Kiss and Fly.

Friday night at The Gates was a sexy crowd. Ice T and Coco were there chilling. Coco is actually not that tall, but amazingly gorgeous. I just saw Ice T and her leaving together. Coco went to the bathroom a few times. I snagged this gorgeous photo of the gates.

Other sightings:

December 16th P Diddy was at Pink Elephant

December 16th Alicia Keys had an event at Greenhouse and Busta R was also there

December 17th Jersey Shore cast member DJ Pauly D was at Tenjune then 1Oak (they seem to be out all the time now…)

On Wednesday I spoke to a Kiss and Fly staff member and found out that they’re planning to renovate the venue in January, so it will be closed for a few weeks. SO sad. I have to relocate my Wednesdays now. Maybe Juliet? What do you guys think? Good move?

Again: NYE. Get on it, get discounts, don’t wait for the last minute rip-offs.

Nightlife Round Up

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Confusion! So I thought Wednesday at Kiss and Fly was the album release party for Robin Thicke, but now I am hearing that it was yesterday at Butter. Also expected at Butter last night was Leighton Meester and Estelle. A pretty sick line up, but I was at Stanton Social before pre-gaming with friends.

Sunday night at 1Oak was also excellent . I snagged a photo with Larenze Tate a very cool, laid back actor. He was in a bunch of movies I used to watch when I was like 15. I haven’t seen him on the screen since, but he was such a down to earth guy. Talib Kweli was at 1Oak DJ-ing. He did an amazing job. Good Sunday party guys! Watch out. Even owner Richie Akiva came to rock out at his own club on a night when it’s run by a different promotional team. I was so happy to see him there. He came to my table, inspected the crowd and I got the opportunity to introduce myself.
Also at 1Oak last night was a famous French actor. Think he was in Ocean’s Eleven and Twelve – that French thief who does acrobatics through the laser fields. His name is Vincent Cassel and he’s here shooting a movie (I asked him, he said no photos sadly). He will be in NYC for a few more weeks so I hope to see him at SL again as I did on Friday. After annoying him enough and being in his presence AGAIN, he may let me snag a shot with him.

I went to pick up my check at Tenjune today and we couldn’t go inside. We had to meet at a diner on the corner because Gossip Girls was being filmed inside the club. Know you girls love that show.

I have been hearing tweets about Provocateur being open tonight? Grand Opening, anyone? Shout outs to David Cohen, THE MAN!!!

Miami is going to be so sick with Lady Gaga performing poolside at the Fontainebleau hotel. I can’t wait! Anyone who wants tickets check my website troymiami.com

And anyone who wants tickets for New Years Eve here in NYC check troynewyears.com

Dec 22 is Mary J Bilge album release party M2. You guys have to admit M2 has been on fire the past two months…celebrities galore! It’s just become that industry celebrity spot for big events.

Contact me ASAP for New Years Eve discounts.

New Years Info, Celebrity Sightings & Events this Month

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Let’s start with my birthday. I turned 23 a few hours ago at the strike of 12am last night (Sunday) at 1Oak. I don’t drink, but was forced to tonight by all the dudes that have offered me alcohol in the past, which I always declined. I didn’t want to get “plastered” as you Americans say. I’ll report back on how that all went. The evening flier here.

OK, now the thing on everyone’s mind: NEW YEARS EVE

Promoters are making websites and selling tickets online. That’s just how it works. Companies like Joonbug buy out the clubs and set up websites for promoters to sell tickets under them. They own the venue for the night, so want to make as much money as possible from the bar, table and ticket sales. Here’s my site if you guys are checking out New Years Eve tickets or want more info: TROYNEWYEARS.COM

Dec 8th (Tuesday) is Timbaland’s supposed album release party at Kiss and Fly. This party is not new. They had Pdiddy’s birthday a few Tuesdays ago, then the owners thought things were getting too ghetto and shut that party down. Now they’re recruited some of the guys that were part of that old team to do it right (hopefully) this time. So this Tuesday should be off the chain. Go check it out and then come see me at Marquee.

Dec 15th (also a Tuesday) is Robin Thicke’s album release party at Kiss and Fly. This is information I received from the people who run the party on Tuesdays. Let’s see if it turns out to be accurate!

Other tidbits:

New club Provocatuer that David Cohen is involved with is having some events this week.

Dec 3rd I saw Mickey Rourke on the streets outside Gaslight looking for girls. He was going to SL (Simyone Lounge).

Dec 2nd Wale and Cassie were at 1Oak

NYE: Mariah Carey will be at M2

NYE FontaineBleau (don’t ever misspell it or they will chop your balls:) with Lady Gaga in Miami!

Friday Dec 11th Snoop Dogg “malice in wonderland” celebration with Funk Flex at M2.

Mon Dec 9th Clipse “till the casket drops” album release party w DJ Clue at PE

Wednesday, Perez Hilton was at Greenhouse. Quite interesting to see the popular blogger doing events at Greenhouse !?

Word on the street is that Bungalow8 might buy neighbor venue Naima to make B8 bigger. Not sure if that means they are doing well or no longer riding the exclusivity wave and really desperate.

Everything You Need to Know Post-Thanksgiving Nightlife

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Horrible that I have not written to you guys, but life has been taking a turn on Troy in so many ways.

First, Friday I added a sexy and more upscale venue to my lineup: The Gates. Amazingly, I had 123 people there which is unbelievable..the doorman Frans said no one at The Gates has ever done such numbers. Yikes. Anyways, The Gates has marble walls and a cool staff. Some of the younger people in my crowd said it’s boring, but everyone else said they loved it. It has a 1Oak feeling but a little bit more mature of a crowd…if I can say that.

Now I have mainly been busy dealing with stuff for New Years. New Years Eve I will be in Miami at LIV and the hush hush talk is that Lady Gaga is going to be there. She has some concert down there in Miami and will be at LIV (a nightclub in Miami) after. It’s my first holiday in Miami so I for once intend to have some fun myself, and I’ll blog while I’m down there to keep you guys in the loop. The sad thing is that for some of you (who have already complained) the price of the LIV ticket is $375 already. But they have, Gaga? What can I say. Keep checking my twitter.com/tnkg to stay in the loop. You can buy New Years tickets at troynewyears.com

So CV is the Old Rivington. I heard it’s sexy and even open on Sundays. Friend of mine @Britt4chichi212 tweeted about which nightclub will get the most tweet talk Sunday. We shall see who wins…I hope 1Oak since I will be there. But venues like Dark Room in LES are big too. Juliet is open Sundays now too.

I am hearing rumors Rachel Uchitel slept with Tiger Woods? What??? She used to work at Griffin and also Pink Elephant, but that’s crazy.

Jay Z and Beyonce were at 1Oak Friday night. They came in holding hands and left with bouncers all around them to separate them from the crowds (as they should be because they’re more supreme human beings than we all are). My friends from Trinidad couldn’t believe they were in HIZZOs presence.

Tay Diggs the actor was also at 1Oak Friday

Sunday at 1Oak was sick. Sadly, this foolish guy punched one of the bouncers in the face if you saw my tweets or my twitter.com/tnkg Basically, the dumbest thing to do in nightlife history besides spitting in the owner’s face. He got the stomp to the curb that he deserved. Excluding that debacle, Oak Sunday was sexy. The room wasn’t as filled due to the holidays, but same goes for Juliet. My friends said it was dead and a lot of the Juliet crowd came over to Oak to chill.

Monday was a bit hazy as I was drinking champagne and was jumping all over the place. Started at Marquee and the Phoenix Suns basketball players were there. An urban crowd of course. Was slower than usual due to holidays and then turned into a fun party with DJ Sinatra at the booth. Headed to Butter as I heard Lindsay Lohan was there. True enough, there she was with some dudes at the first table to the left enjoying herself simply dressed in a wife beater (as you Americans call it) smoking a cigg. I went to hang out at my friends table and that’s when the dancing started.

I got tipsy then headed to Avenue. LOVE that place. Got in and more champagne was handed out and MARCUS SCHENKENBERG (who was once the #1 male model worldwide, see title pic) was there hitting on the felines inside. He then was introduced to my Swedish queens and he loved them. We snagged this photo. He’s a hilarious dude and few for words. Point being I had a good time and love seeing celebs.

Don’t you?

So bbm, email or sms me when you see one and I’ll post it and give you a shout out - Amanda Hersh?

Coming up: Rihanna’s album release party is this Thursday at M2

No Girls and Still Club Hopping Alone

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Wednesday night wasn’t such a good night for me. I started off pissed because no girls were coming to Kiss and Fly. As I got to Kiss, the entire Knicks basketball team entered in usual hood/hats, nothing new, some tall, some short whatevs. They stayed in the back of the room while some drunk guy was on the emcee saying shit. I had a terrible night, and with no girls or table, it didn’t even make sense to stay. I just roamed around club hopping.

I jumped over to Simyone lounge, or better known as SL. Owners Eugene/Mark were there chilling out waiting for a big spender to roll through. The spender came and so did numerous other EMM group promoters who had their night off, and other promoters like myself that cannot help but to be drawn to good-looking women. I hung out with some girls at Jacob’s table, a very nice guy. Amazing promoters from back in the day (Morey and Fontaine) that brought out every single model in the city were also at SL chilling.

I left SL and absorbed my daily intake of 1Oak. Binn and I greet one another on a friendly basis now. I say, “Hello Albania” and he says, “Hello Trinidad.” Quite simple. I chilled out Jeremy and Mike’s table. Ellington was in there doing his ‘model only’ thing. By 3:30, everyone came over from everywhere else.

How does 1Oak do it? How did they set that trend where everyone comes to their venue to finish off their night?  They are doing well and continue to do so.

La Pomme is going to be hitting something off on Wednesdays soon, mark my words. You’re going to be like, “Oh damn, Troy was right, La Pomme is hot now Wednesdays even though it sucked before.” There is a reason, I can’t explain yet because it’s still under wraps, but on Nov 11 - watch out!

At 1Oak, Knicks players came through too. A tall white dude on the team was there. I guess the rest of his teammates liked Kiss and Fly and stayed.

I went to Avenue after 1Oak, and that was a jammed spot too. Actually, so to speak, Avenue and Simyone have the same vibe. Hot girls/well-dressed guys and the funky, trendy dressed models, or losers like me in a t-shirt and a jacket. Some dude bought some Cristal bottles for everyone at Avenue, so at the end of the night, all in all, at least I was ingesting some of that.

Halloween is at The Park, guys!

New Clubs Construction Tour

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

So Tuesday night I met up with a friend who is connected with a lot of new spots and nightclubs that are opening. He took me to a place called Amnesia. You can check out the pictures below.

anmesia-1

Amnesia is actually a large space. Location-wise, it’s closer to West Side Highway than Marquee, M2, Scores and Cain etc. When I walked inside, I felt it had an M2 vibe because there’s a high ceiling and the room’s really big. I envision it as a huge performance space. Like everything in New York, it used to be called something else, but I forget the name. The managers were chilling out in the basement on computers, chatting about future events. They told me there will be some private events taking place in November and as well as a soft opening so important nightlife people and press can view the space.

Next stop, Quo. I didn’t get good pictures here, but it’s not like this is a mysterious new club space since it’s the old Prime / Myst/ Retox. One trivial thing is that people are not sure whether they are calling it Quo or just Q, but they said it doesn’t matter. So far the club staff are calling it Quo and the sub-contracted consultants (i.e. Richie) are calling it Q. Below a photo of the walkway…the rest they wouldn’t let me photograph.

quo-walkway

I think Suzie Wong’s owners are also involved in the reopening of this space. I think one of the guy’s names is Gary - really nice guy and always out partying. It’s in his blood to be at clubs.

Once again, I will mention Halloween. I’m selling tickets for The Park. There is a 9pm to 11pm or a 9pm to 10pm open bar, will confirm that soon. As I said yesterday, Kid Cudi was supposed to be there, but he is no longer since tickets are selling fast with or without him. The party there last year had 2,500 people clicked in, making it really one of the largest spaces in NYC besides Tavern on the Green. For those of you who don’t know where it is, it’s right next to Avenue, closer to 18st and 10th ave while Avenue is 17st and 10th ave.

John Mayer Birthday at 1Oak, Roam Tonight

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I want to start off talking about 1Oak as it’s the highlight of this post, and last night (Thursday). I brought my Trinidadian friend Adam Pantin out with me since he was in town. I made sure he was well-dressed (khaki pants, dress shoes, and a nice button down-shirt - tucked in). At the door, Binn gave me a negative look. After all that, he told me to tell him to un-tuck his shirt because it looked too dressy.

Balloons were all up on the roof as it was part of the decor for John Mayer’s birthday party. Richie Akiva was on the microphone giving shout outs to all the celebrities there: John Mayer, Usher, Jeremy Pivon (no idea who that is), and Mickey Rourke, all at 1Oak. Packed I tell you, packed it was. A good vibe inside - even the back tables that are shaped like staircases were filled with people. A really great night to hit 1Oak.

Tenjune started off slow, as all clubs have been doing this week. All the promoters trickled in with their crews and the usual walk-up crowd who know Tenjune staff. These folks definitely added good energy to the club. By the end, an excellent party. One thing I would say is that many promoters left the club at 2:30am. This hurt the energetic vibe the room had going for most of the night. For a promoter, it’s hard to say no when your hottest and snobbiest girls want to move on to the next hot spot (sister club of Tenjune: SL) or 1Oak. These promoters are usually being hustled by their own clients to move onwards. They cease to be in charge. They are members of the cattle and the hot women are their shepherds.

Tonight, I will be hosting at a sort of new club called Roam. Some of you probably have been there and hated it. Don’t worry, I’m going to create a different energy in the room tonight. Come check it out if you want and forward me any birthday, bachelorette, or bachelor parties you want organized!

Hope all is well! Have a great weekend!

Usher’s Birthday at 1Oak, Lohan Banned from Avenue

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Wednesday was a sick night, guys. I’d heard from a Little Birdie that Usher was supposed to be at Cipriani’s, but he wasn’t. The word on the street was his birthday was supposed to be held at 1Oak, but at 3am I’d heard he still wasn’t there. Finally, he showed up at 3:15am with a small crew. He walked right up to the DJ booth and got on the emcee! He asked for a few songs of his to be played, and then they brought him a cute little cake, five-year-old kid style.

Before I went to Oak to experience Usher’s birthday fiesta, I checked out Avenue. Story for you guys!: I see Lindsey Lohan standing outside the club in the cold! I was outside and cold in a blazer and jeans, and she was outside for maybe fifteen minutes with just a little dress on.

Why?

Because SHE IS BANNED from Avenue! Wow! Any guesses on why? Because awhile ago she took pictures of Justin Timberlake partying in Avenue and posted them on some website. The Strategic Group staff would have none of this, resulting in Lohan’s leper status at the newest and fav celeb spot. The rest is history.

Juliet’s grand opening was last night (Thursday) I think…?

And the Jane Hotel was closed down? Now it’s a few streets away at a place called the Rusty Knot? Can you guys can fill me in on these things, please? :)

Sunday Night Round Up

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

“The people” said 1Oak and Griffin didn’t have good energy Sunday night. I disagree. Griffin and 1Oak were just chill instead of packed. There was enough space to move around and relax. The crowd was just as good-looking as other nights.

For 1Oak, the promoters (new ones hired by a new promotional team) were warned the girls they brought had to be 1Oak quality. For Griffin, in a meeting with the owners, they said to ensure the club didn’t get ghetto. Amazingly, the opposite occurred. I’ve yet to be at a Sunday party this high-end. Both these venues have huge potential for being high-end.

Tenjune was on the lower end of the spectrum with regards to quality, but the guys running that party Sunday night make a lot more money. The room is totally filled, the quality of the people is decent, and tables are being sold. So in my book, Tenjune was a good Sunday party to pay a visit to. Of course, I would welcome you at Griffin also Sunday, since I am there. Stefan (from Pink Elephant) runs the door at Griffin now, and he is no joker when it comes to rejecting people. He did that a lot Sunday night. He also had good reason (besides keeping the venue full with a hot crowd). The police said if they breached their maximum capacity again they’d be shut down, so he had to keep some people waiting outside till some others would leave. Crazy, right?

Heard Butter was whack from a few friends, but hey it’s a one-off.

Got some feedback from some friends at a new space called Amnesia 27th street and 11 ave. Richie Romero is dealing up with that.
Also, Quo on 28street is going to open. I believe in the old Prime space. I can’t imagine that would be good though.

I am actually looking for a Friday spot to work. Not sure what to do, go for high-end or filler. We shall see what offers are made…

Anyone who is ever interested in blogging or in club information, hit me up.

Friday Night Round-Up

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Heard Simyone (or now commonly known as “SL”) on Friday was packed with models…and not just normal ones “pretty ones.” Apparently, bringing models just isn’t enough. Managers can complain that models aren’t pretty enough to be at a certain table. Then promoters compete and trash talk saying “Yeah man, he only brings out ugly models. They aren’t even hot.”

Crazy, right?

I thought a model is the ideal model of a human being that a promoter should want to bring out, but this was brought to my attention some weeks ago when I heard “model promoters” arguing about whether certain promoters should be working at certain venues. What is this world coming to?

1Oak Friday night was also good. A lot of pretty women, packed, just what owners Richie and Scott and Ronnie would want. The NYPD were outside chatting with Richie Akiva. The doorman Binn was hanging out inside, so the door was jam packed for a bit and of course security had to do their job and ensure that no one stood in front the club. All the “VIP girls” actually had to wait, and they were getting frustrated.

Is Butter now open more days as a nightclub? I’ve been hearing about people having birthdays there and the venue operating as a nightclub on nights other than Monday. For those of you who don’t know, Butter is the longest running nightclub in NYC - ten years. It’s owned by the 1Oak boys and has been the best Monday night party for years.

Outside Avenue, I felt neglected by the doorman. This time it wasn’t Wass because Wass runs the door at Marquee Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Apparently, I’m not in whatever way attractive enough for this specific doorman because I never get in when he runs the door. When it’s Wass, it’s all good surprisingly, even though we have our differences on Saturday nights. My advice? Look sharp, carry female eye candy.
