Holiday Nightlife

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Sunday night insanity occurred. First off, I somehow had 50+ people out the Sunday before Christmas after a blizzard, which is pretty good. Then the guys DJ Pauly D and Mike the Situation were at 1Oak having a blast. Mike the Situation kept taking bottles of champagne, pouring, popping and spraying it on everyone in the crowd…and on all over every girl I’d introduce him to. I really need to get on my reality TV show who’s who game because I never would have never noticed these guys were if it weren’t for the New Jersey girls that came out with me. A lot of people’s jackets were stolen, always a pity and proof of an out-of-control night. Some Knicks cheerleader dancers were out. It’s funny how the room at 1Oak on Sunday ALWAYS starts off dead and people think it’s going to be a bad night. Then it always ends up being the best Sunday party no matter what anyone says. The entire staff of Juliet came across to 1Oak. I love Juliet too and hope to work there soon, but for now, Sunday’s at Oak is popping.

1Oak is going to be open on Christmas Eve. Tenjune will be closed on Christmas day (sadly) and so I may do Juliet or head to party of a great up and coming model here in NYC named Luke Magill (the cream of the crop). Will keep you guys posted. Another big male model that I know is Ty Kinty but he is mainly based in London. Jay Z’s bouncer/body guard was actually at 1Oak my friend @clarencelmcmill said. You can follow him on Twitter for some good entertainment updates, as well as other NYC blogger/entertainers like Micah Jesse and Jared Eng. Good people to know in the business and they are all on twitter. And follow me as well for all the most up to date information at twitter.com/tnkg

This coming Tuesday (tomorrow) Talib Kweli is booked for Kiss and Fly.

Friday night at The Gates was a sexy crowd. Ice T and Coco were there chilling. Coco is actually not that tall, but amazingly gorgeous. I just saw Ice T and her leaving together. Coco went to the bathroom a few times. I snagged this gorgeous photo of the gates.

Other sightings:

December 16th P Diddy was at Pink Elephant

December 16th Alicia Keys had an event at Greenhouse and Busta R was also there

December 17th Jersey Shore cast member DJ Pauly D was at Tenjune then 1Oak (they seem to be out all the time now…)

On Wednesday I spoke to a Kiss and Fly staff member and found out that they’re planning to renovate the venue in January, so it will be closed for a few weeks. SO sad. I have to relocate my Wednesdays now. Maybe Juliet? What do you guys think? Good move?

Again: NYE. Get on it, get discounts, don’t wait for the last minute rip-offs.

New Years Info, Celebrity Sightings & Events this Month

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Let’s start with my birthday. I turned 23 a few hours ago at the strike of 12am last night (Sunday) at 1Oak. I don’t drink, but was forced to tonight by all the dudes that have offered me alcohol in the past, which I always declined. I didn’t want to get “plastered” as you Americans say. I’ll report back on how that all went. The evening flier here.

OK, now the thing on everyone’s mind: NEW YEARS EVE

Promoters are making websites and selling tickets online. That’s just how it works. Companies like Joonbug buy out the clubs and set up websites for promoters to sell tickets under them. They own the venue for the night, so want to make as much money as possible from the bar, table and ticket sales. Here’s my site if you guys are checking out New Years Eve tickets or want more info: TROYNEWYEARS.COM

Dec 8th (Tuesday) is Timbaland’s supposed album release party at Kiss and Fly. This party is not new. They had Pdiddy’s birthday a few Tuesdays ago, then the owners thought things were getting too ghetto and shut that party down. Now they’re recruited some of the guys that were part of that old team to do it right (hopefully) this time. So this Tuesday should be off the chain. Go check it out and then come see me at Marquee.

Dec 15th (also a Tuesday) is Robin Thicke’s album release party at Kiss and Fly. This is information I received from the people who run the party on Tuesdays. Let’s see if it turns out to be accurate!

Other tidbits:

New club Provocatuer that David Cohen is involved with is having some events this week.

Dec 3rd I saw Mickey Rourke on the streets outside Gaslight looking for girls. He was going to SL (Simyone Lounge).

Dec 2nd Wale and Cassie were at 1Oak

NYE: Mariah Carey will be at M2

NYE FontaineBleau (don’t ever misspell it or they will chop your balls:) with Lady Gaga in Miami!

Friday Dec 11th Snoop Dogg “malice in wonderland” celebration with Funk Flex at M2.

Mon Dec 9th Clipse “till the casket drops” album release party w DJ Clue at PE

Wednesday, Perez Hilton was at Greenhouse. Quite interesting to see the popular blogger doing events at Greenhouse !?

Word on the street is that Bungalow8 might buy neighbor venue Naima to make B8 bigger. Not sure if that means they are doing well or no longer riding the exclusivity wave and really desperate.

Asleep on the Job and Jay-Z at 1Oak

Monday, November 9th, 2009

Absolut Vodka Event at La Pomme on Tuesday, P Diddy’s birthday at Kiss and Fly on Tuesday, O’Neal McKnight at Kiss and Fly Wednesday – I missed it all last week. I woke up at 4am with 236 text messages from girls saying they hate me for mass texting them to come out when I clearly had fallen asleep and texts from dudes letting me know what great fun I was missing 1Oak where Arod and Derek Jeter had shown up. My friend Will actually got video footage of it on his facebook. You can follow him on twitter @willharahan (I’m @tnkg).

Friday night I hit new-ish spot Roam (not that new, but fairly new). It’s turning into a machine. I want to change the bad rep it currently has due to the promotional teams that were running it before. This Friday it was jam packed and the crowd is getting better and better looking. Both floors were open. Downstairs they play House/Caribbean music (somehow the DJ manages to mesh these two genres) and upstairs is the typical hip hop playlist. PS Unfortunately, no one plays my sh*t, Paparazzi by Lady GaGa.

I went to 1Oak after to see a packed door outside and no Binn, just Sherry (the pretty jet black lady), Parker (tall, good-looking Hawaiian dude) and bouncer Dean (recognized by his repeat line “Guys get on line. No one in front the club is getting in without Binn being here. Please clear the sidewalk.”) I got in due to Dean being cool with me. When I walk in I get some tweets about Jay Z being there. Then I see him right there a top the right table (Richie’s). I’d also heard Lebron was there, but couldn’t find him. Then I saw him stand tall for like ten seconds as though he was looking for a hot girl in the crowd (haha), then he sat back down behind everyone and vanished.

Coming up this Wednesday is a huge night new party. La Pomme will be rocking that thaanng right. RON BROWNZZZZ RON BROWWWNNNZZ. Get ready for the heat and follow me on twitter.com/tnkg for the info. Love ya, peeps…I’m hitting the sack at 5:39am this morning and am writing this trash for you ;)

Club Closings & Birthdays at 1Oak

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

So Tuesday late night at Marquee a wealthy gentleman came through and bought HEAVY amounts of alcohol. Then he was throwing large stacks of dollar bills in the air. Oh, geez. I only WISH I had a camera to see this great moment and what ensued - people squatting and attempting to grab up the $1 bills. It must be great to live the good life and be royalty in Dubai.

Guess which high-end night club has shut down?

No, not Greenhouse my friends. The owners of the closing locale are my buddies and asked me not to mention it so we have to do this game style. You guess and I’ll tell you yes or no!

Wednesday night at Kiss & Fly was not the same as the Wednesday before because the Knicks players were sadly not around. Moving on to the good stuff….Wednesday at 1Oak was a legendary night because it was one of the owner’s birthday. Scott. Good-looking guy, always there hanging out. He seems like a very easy-going, casual guy that would be good to chill out and people-watch with. I didn’t even see him that night but am sure he had a blast. I swear, I had never seen so many good looking women at 1Oak in my life. After last night, I have to say Brazil has the best-looking brunettes in the world. I met a few last night and they could barely speak English, but I just hung onto every word they said just to look at them for a few extra seconds. This is what a loser I am.

Took this photo of the bar.

No Girls and Still Club Hopping Alone

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Wednesday night wasn’t such a good night for me. I started off pissed because no girls were coming to Kiss and Fly. As I got to Kiss, the entire Knicks basketball team entered in usual hood/hats, nothing new, some tall, some short whatevs. They stayed in the back of the room while some drunk guy was on the emcee saying shit. I had a terrible night, and with no girls or table, it didn’t even make sense to stay. I just roamed around club hopping.

I jumped over to Simyone lounge, or better known as SL. Owners Eugene/Mark were there chilling out waiting for a big spender to roll through. The spender came and so did numerous other EMM group promoters who had their night off, and other promoters like myself that cannot help but to be drawn to good-looking women. I hung out with some girls at Jacob’s table, a very nice guy. Amazing promoters from back in the day (Morey and Fontaine) that brought out every single model in the city were also at SL chilling.

I left SL and absorbed my daily intake of 1Oak. Binn and I greet one another on a friendly basis now. I say, “Hello Albania” and he says, “Hello Trinidad.” Quite simple. I chilled out Jeremy and Mike’s table. Ellington was in there doing his ‘model only’ thing. By 3:30, everyone came over from everywhere else.

How does 1Oak do it? How did they set that trend where everyone comes to their venue to finish off their night?  They are doing well and continue to do so.

La Pomme is going to be hitting something off on Wednesdays soon, mark my words. You’re going to be like, “Oh damn, Troy was right, La Pomme is hot now Wednesdays even though it sucked before.” There is a reason, I can’t explain yet because it’s still under wraps, but on Nov 11 - watch out!

At 1Oak, Knicks players came through too. A tall white dude on the team was there. I guess the rest of his teammates liked Kiss and Fly and stayed.

I went to Avenue after 1Oak, and that was a jammed spot too. Actually, so to speak, Avenue and Simyone have the same vibe. Hot girls/well-dressed guys and the funky, trendy dressed models, or losers like me in a t-shirt and a jacket. Some dude bought some Cristal bottles for everyone at Avenue, so at the end of the night, all in all, at least I was ingesting some of that.

Halloween is at The Park, guys!

The Week in Recap: NBA & Baseball Players, Wale & Shaggy Live Performances

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Let’s kick it off talking about last week. Thursday. NBA hosted an event in Chinatown on Bowery. It was for a new video game coming out by 2K sports, NBA 2k10. Donnie Klang from Making the Band was there interviewing people and asking questions. Wale did a live performance which you can see here:

I started working at Tenjune on Thursdays. Adam Spoont asked me to, and honestly I love it. Unlimited bottles of champagne and vodka…however it’s still a tough door. There was basically a cap on the number of guys I could get in, even if each of the guys came with six girls. They just didn’t care.

I’d like to officially state that Friday at Johnny Utah’s is a fun party. Craig on the microphone, decent promoters, a good filler crowd to laugh, dance and ride the bull. Some birthday parties came through too. Definitely a good time. I wish I could say the same for the Monday pregame Johnny Utah party. It used to be phenomenal, but due to two months of a lull period, the energy died. Maybe the incoming fall college class isn’t aware of its presence. They should be warned. I’m going to work on this, don’t worry.

JayZ was at M2 Friday night holding it down, then he hit 1Oak afterwards

Saturday night a new party started and has been in existence for two weeks. A venue called Roam (19th street btw 5th and Broadway). It is run by Mike Kanevsky and Jay Putera from Climax VIP. I heard it is a good party to check out, however for now I still love Marquee Saturdays…for all you haters out there on Marquee.

Sunday night at Tenjune some of the Royals Baseball players came through. A friend of a friend knew a guy who used to assist in the management of the team, and some of the players wanted to experience NYC nightlife. About seven of them came out and had a great time. They ended up buying 4/5 bottles and dancing up all over the place. Outside Tenjune Sunday night, there was a huge film crew with large trucks for actors to change. The whole Hollywood scene was going on in the streets of meatpacking at 4 am in the morning. I found out it was all for the movie “Wall Street 2” which will star Mike Douglas (again).

Sunday night, Jim Jones was at Suzie Wong. Not that many of you would have liked to be there, but that’s just an FYI.

Monday night, Common had a huge performance at Marquee as an after party for a concert he did yesterday. Estelle and Busta Rhymes were also there. I got there late night at like 3am. Busta was saying goodbye to all his friends and was escorted out with a bodyguard to a mayback motor vehicle. Quite a nice and large car that is!

I noticed that Wass is now at Marquee Mondays and he doesn’t get to work at the higher end Avenue, which is also open on Mondays (he used to run the door there on Mondays.) I imagine that pisses him off. Earlier on Monday, I went to Avenue and some Giants players were there (they were also at Tenjune the night before, Sunday). Not being an avid follower of these sports, I didn’t know their names but heard the DJ giving shout outs, so it was obvious. Brody Jener was also at Avenue Monday

Kiss and Fly was also open on Monday, which is very unexpected. Now so many new spots are opening up Mondays it will be more and more difficult for people to attract people to a certain venue on any given night. I don’t think Kiss and Fly will be open permanently on Monday…it was a one-off event, but the guys that were running it (Alex and Leo) said if it does well, they may try to continue it.

Legendary performances by MR VEGAS and SHAGGY at Greenhouse on Monday. Check out the footage and pics here at the Troy Report.

Celebrity Guests at Tenjune, Marquee, Small Lounges to Check Out & the Hottest Club Right Now

Nightlife

Celebrity Guests at Tenjune, Marquee, Small Lounges to Check Out & the Hottest Club Right Now
So last night (Tuesday), Sean Kingston was supposed to be performing at Tenjune. So don’t lose faith in Tenjune just because of the owner’s new club project Simyone. Tenjune still has some energy left in it.

Marquee was having a much bigger celebrity. I wanted to tell people early on who it was, but the managers said I couldn’t even hint at it. But let’s see, he plays a sport called “basketball,” he’s the best at it and he isn’t retired, he’s black, a rapper references him in songs, the aforementioned rapper was just on the VMA’s a few Sundays ago and did the finale performance. You do the math.

Guesses? Alternatively you can always just find out during the night. I’ll always keep you posted, just follow me on twitter.com/tnkg

Monday night I spotted model Anthony Gallo and Russell Simmons at Butter. Heard they had quite the good time. Richie Akiva (owner of Butter and 1Oak) is supposed to be celebrating his birthday this week. His colleagues are supposedly in charge of the celebration preparations…so keep your eyes and ears open for a legendary party most likely occurring sometime this week at 1Oak.

Meanwhile, I keep hearing about these smaller lounges that have opened and seem to have everyone buzzing. Su Casa, Cantina Latina, Roam and a bunch of others. Anyone who can tell me if they’re worth checking out, please do. People have asked me to work or set up parties at some of these places, but I have never been to any of them except Cantina Latina (which is very nice I might add). I found out that Shim is running Cantina Latina on Mondays and it apparently is a very very good looking venue. This Monday he did around 150 people. Girls were telling me it has that Socialista vibe. For those of you who don’t know, Socialista was a very exclusive yet different kind of party. Anyway, Shim is partners on 4K Entertainment. They do very good business.

A little information on the hot spot or most exclusive club in NYC right now…well, it’s called Avenue. They run the room differently there. Friends of mine tried to make reservations and were denied. Avenue doesn’t care HOW much money you are willing to spend (to a certain extent). They care more about WHOSE money they are receiving. For example, a gentleman I mentioned before by the name of Jho Lao (anyone correct me on spelling if I am wrong) within two weeks or so spent about 1 million in NYC nightlife. Avenue was one of the clubs he spent in, alongside Kiss and Fly and The Griffin.

Side notes: 1Oak will be running a new party on Sundays as Tenjune has been doing. A good friend of mine named Jimmy will be running the door. Opening night is Sunday Oct 4th
